Birdie is a text-message assistant for parents, operated by Next Step Startup Advisory. This policy covers the Birdie messaging program. It says what we collect, what we do with it, and what we never do.
The short version
We never sell your information.No mobile information is sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers and consent are never shared with anyone for their own use.
Your email and calendar are read-only to us. Birdie can read what you connect so it can tell you what matters. It cannot send email as you, change your calendar, or act in your accounts.
We don’t keep the contents of your email. Birdie reads a message, keeps a one-line summary and any dates it found, and discards the body.
What we collect
Your phone number and the messages you exchange with Birdie. The conversation is Birdie’s memory of your family, so it is kept while your account is active.
What you tell it about your household — names, ages, schools, allergies, schedules, who can pick up whom — because that is the job.
Read-only access to Google services you choose to connect (email, calendar, contacts). You can disconnect at any time; access tokens are encrypted with dedicated keys and can be revoked from your Google account.
Where you live, coarsely. A zip code or city, so the weather check knows which forecast to read. Never a street address.
Operational records — delivery receipts, errors, and costs — to keep the service working.
Who we share it with
Only the services required to deliver the product, and only what they need to do their job:
Twilio, to send and receive your text messages.
Amazon Web Services, where the service and its database run. The AI runs inside our own AWS account through Amazon Bedrock; your conversations are not used to train anyone’s models.
Google, only for the accounts you connect, and only to read them.
A public forecast service, which receives the centre point of your zip code and nothing else.
We share information with other people — another parent, a coach, a contractor — only when you ask Birdie to, and only what that message needs. Birdie does not volunteer your child’s school, address, allergies or schedule to anyone outside your household without your say-so.
Your choices
Reply STOP to any message to opt out. We honour it permanently and stop contacting that number.
Ask Birdie to forget something and it is deleted.
Ask for a copy of what we hold, or for your household to be deleted, and we will do it. Email privacy@mybirdie.ai.
Children
Birdie is for parents and carers, who are adults. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Parents tell us about their children so the service can be useful; that information is treated as the family’s and is never shared for marketing.
Security and retention
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access tokens are encrypted with dedicated keys. We keep your household’s information while the account is active, and delete it on request.
Changes and contact
